What reed size should you use for your saxophone? A little trial and error cannot be ruled out - as mentioned, every saxophone is a little different, and a reed that works well on a tenor saxophone will work less well on a clarinet. However, in general, beginners should choose lighter blades. With lighter blades, the wood is not as thick and can therefore swing more easily. This makes it easier to create sounds with your own blowing.
